Challenge yourself at Oleta River State Park

February 21, 2012

There is a lot that travelers can do with vacation villa rentals in Miami. As the city is well known for its cuisine, culture and shopping opportunities – as well as a sterling beach scene – there are plenty of chances for relaxation and exploration. Yet travelers who would prefer to have an altogether more physical experience during their South Floridian excursion can make plans to spend a day adventuring through Oletta River State Park.

Located on Biscayne Bay, the park offers 1,043 acres of hiking and nature trails, as well as a small beach and a wealth of plant and animal life. The area has been inhabited since roughly 500 BC, when the Tequesta Indians first settled near the mouth of the river. The native influence on the land has left many well-worn biking, hiking and walking trails throughout the park, making it a frequent host of triathlons and other extreme races.

The river itself is also popular among active vacationers, as it is a common destination for canoeing and kayaking.

Working up a sweat at Oleta River State Park will make returning to your vacation home rentals that much sweeter, as many of these facilities boast their own pools or spa settings that will help you recuperate in style.
