Venture to the Orosei Gulf coast of Sardinia

February 8, 2012

Along the Mediterranean coast of Italy are the Sicilian and Sardinian islands. Much less explored than its neighbor, Sardinia is an island with a wealth of history and culture. Because of its unique past, including multiple invasions by various intruders, the traditions of the island are distinct from other regions of Italy. To learn about the unique culture and witness the stunning coastal landscape of the island, plan a vacation and reserve a villa rental at the secluded spot.

On the quiet coast of the Orosei Gulf in eastern Sardinia, wild goats roam through ravines surrounding the isolated beaches set against the backdrop of purple limestone cliffs. If you're lucky, you can catch aromas of wild rosemary and thyme caught in the breeze as you sunbathe on the sand.

A trip to this part of the coast is worth it no matter where your vacation villa rental is located on the fairly small island. About half a dozen intimate beaches rest within folds of the limestone cliffs, stretching across 35 miles of gulf coast.

While reaching many of these beaches is best achieved by boat, the adventurous vacationers with island villa rentals can opt to hike through the region to fully appreciate its beauty.
