La Retraite is a delightful, ivy-covered four bedroom rectory beside the old church of Nadaillac de Rouge, where the bells still chime three times per day, although sadly not in July or August!
Built of local stone in a typically Perigordian style, with flagstone floors, wooden beams and a large stone fireplace, La Retraite oozes comfort and relaxation whatever the time of year. The tiny village of Nadaillac de Rouge has an Auberge serving local cuisine. The local towns of Peyrac, Souillac and St Julien de Lampon have a variety of shops and restaurants. The Dordogne River is within 10 miles for fishing and kayaking. Rocamadour, France's second most visited tourist attraction after Le Mont St-Michel, is a magical town with golden houses clinging to the side of a cliff over the Alzou canyon. Take a boat ride through the ancient caves at Gouffres du Padirac, or visit the medieval town of Sarlat on the banks of the Dordogne, which hosts a market each Saturday.
