Delme
Europe / Italy / Tuscany
Florence is a city that never stops surprising.
Villa Overview
Cradle of the Renaissance and home to some of the greatest masterpieces ever created, it is a place where every street corner, church façade and noble palazzo carries centuries of history. In the Middle Ages, its most powerful families raised tall tower-houses as symbols of wealth and prestige, each striving to rise higher than its rivals and claim a share of the skyline. Very few of these towers have survived to this day, and one of them is home to Delme, a beautifully restored residence set within an authentic 12th-century tower once tied to a noble Florentine family. Here you will not simply visit Florence’s past: you will sleep, cook and unwind inside it, right at the heart of the historic center!
Living Spaces
Set on the fourth floor of the tower and served by an elevator, this approximately 1,240 sq ft (115 sqm) residence is a refined dialogue between past and present. The recent restoration has brought back to light the original stone walls, the warm terracotta brickwork and the ancient arches, pairing them with clean contemporary finishes, rich fabrics and elegant brass accents. The open-plan living and dining room gathers around a traditional fireplace, the perfect spot to rest after a long day spent discovering the city’s treasures. The fully equipped modern kitchen, with sleek stainless-steel surfaces, invites you to prepare anything from a quick breakfast to a Tuscan dinner made with the fresh produce you picked up at the Santo Spirito market. The true gem of the apartment, however, is its private balcony, where morning espresso and sunset aperitivo come with a view over Florence’s terracotta rooftops all the way to Palazzo Vecchio. A washer and dryer complete the apartment.
Special Characteristics
Ideal for two couples or a family, Delme is a one-of-a-kind apartment to rent in Florence. Living inside a medieval tower, one of the proud symbols of the families who once shaped the city, is an experience very few places can offer. From your doorstep you can easily stroll to Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo, along with countless restaurants, wine bars and artisan workshops. Yet, once back home, the atmosphere is private and genuine, just as Florentines have lived it for centuries. And when evening comes, do not miss the tower’s most magical moment: the soft golden light warming the ancient stone walls, as history seems to stand still around you!
