5 Reasons to Visit Italy in Spring

When it comes to Italy, think spring! According to our experts, it’s the perfect season to enjoy the country, especially because of these 5 reasons.

To many, summer is the time to visit Italy. It’s school vacation, there’s plenty to do and see, and the coast’s waters are at their most refreshing. But to us, there’s no better time to visit Italy than the spring for five simple reasons…

1. It’s less crowded.

Sharing your vacation with hundreds of strangers isn’t always the best experience. But, when you visit Italy in the spring, you don’t have to. Summer’s crowds won’t have arrived yet, meaning you’ll probably have a better overall trip. Historic sites won’t be packed, you’ll be able to really enjoy cooking classes, and bike rides won’t be accompanied by many other tourists.

2. The weather is nicer.

In the summer, Italy can be hot. Italy in the spring? Not so much. The weather is warm without being uncomfortable, making it easy to enjoy much of the country’s outdoor offerings. And while, yes, spring does make rain more of a possibility, you’re just as likely to experience perfect spring weather.

3. Rates are a usually lower.

Hoping to save a little on your trip? Then spring is the ideal time to go. Since it’s the off-season, everything – plane fares, day trips, villa prices – is usually significantly less than it would be during the summer months.

4. You have more options.

From May to August, the best villas fill up very quickly. So, if you choose to go in March or April, there are more rentals available to you, and they’re a better value.

5. The country is prettier.

While Italy is truly beautiful year-round, there’s something pretty magical about visiting it in the springtime. The gardens are dotted with brightly-hued blossoms, the rolling hills are unimaginably verdant, and the (seemingly endless) vineyards are in bloom.
